About us:
We are a busy well-established Spinal Surgery practice that consults across multiple sites (Malvern, Box Hill and Richmond). Free parking is provided at some sites and easy public transport access at all sites. You will join our established practice consisting of our lovely Practice Manager, our Medical Secretary and our extremely amiable Surgeon. Our amazing team will support you in this role as you work together to provide a seamless experience for the practice and patients. Our ultimate priority is our patients (we cannot overstate this).
About you:
We are seeking a Practice Nurse with a difference. A nurse who would like to play a pivotal part of our patients lives. This could be visiting them in person when they are in hospital, or speaking to them in person or on the phone when they are in need
Join us in providing quality patient care through your advanced clinical nursing practice, along with your administrative experience. This is a unique role that will include assisting our Surgeon in consulting, assisting with pre and post patient care. You will utilise your mature minded skillset to promote and develop collaborative relationships amongst our healthcare team. And provide our patients with a seamless health journey.
Nursing Responsibilities will include:
- Be the clinical point of contact between patients and the Surgeon including assisting in consulting sessions and handling triage calls.
- Demonstrate advanced clinical skills, knowledge and expertise (particularly Spinal experience well regarded)
- Ensure Surgeon’s instructions and protocols regarding clinical care are meticulously documented and followed at all times
- Gathering health histories, planning and coordinating patient care
- Wound care as directed, pre and post op care
- Visiting inpatients in hospital as required (Epworth Eastern and Richmond).
Duties – Medical Administration
- Using your experience to work alongside the Surgeon to provide Patients with all aspects of administrative tasks including Surgeon’s diary, consulting sessions, surgical bookings and billings (as required).
- Reception relief (as required)
Essential skills and experience
- At least 2 years as a qualified Nurse (RN, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic experience highly regarded), current AHPRA registration required
- Previous experience using Medical Practice Software (Gentu viewed favourably)
- Flexible in your approach to work, with exceptional customer service skills
- A genuine team player (this is an integral part of our practice)
- Well developed time management skills and ability to multi-task and work efficiently under pressure
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise
- Extensive customer service skillset, to provide pragmatic support and empathy to our patients
- Ability if needed to assist in consults at our other practice sites (inner east)
- Own car and licence
- Great organisational skills
- Professionally presented, in written form, verbally and in person

Days/Hours:
- Three days per week (to be negotiated)
- 8:30am till 5:00pm with 30 minute unpaid lunch
Pay rate: $45.00 to 50.00 per hour plus super
