Sommeliers all levels - Goodies Group
From Junior Sommeliers to Head Sommeliers, The Goodies is looking for passionate wine people to join our venues across Sydney. Whether you're early in your wine journey or ready to take ownership of a hatted wine program, we have a place for you.
The Group
The Goodies is a growing hospitality group founded by Nathan & Sali Sasi and Morgan McGlone, known for their commitment to thoughtful food, generous, warm service and neighbourhood-driven hospitality. Our venues currently include:
- Vin-Cenzo's (Darlinghurst): A two-hatted, Italian-leaning restaurant and supper club with a diverse, Italian-leaning wine list, underpinned by old-school hospitality charm.
- Bar Copains (Surry Hills): A one-hatted, friendly neighbourhood wine bar celebrating friendship and French bistro charm.
- Bessies (Surry Hills): A one-hatted, Mediterranean wood-fire restaurant focusing on Food, Fire + Friends.
- Alma's (Surry Hills): A cocktail bar within Bessies, focusing on the classics and good times.
- La Buvette (Potts Point): An intimate French wine bar opening in August 2026.
The Roles
We're recruiting sommeliers at every level to work across our venues. Each role reports into our Group Sommelier, who is genuinely invested in your development, whether that means refining your palate, working towards a certification, or building the skills to run your own list one day.
You'll be present on the floor, building real relationships with guests, and part of a team that believes great hospitality and great wine are inseparable. The scope of each role varies by seniority and venue — from supporting service and stock with enthusiasm, through to curating a list, managing supplier relationships, and leading a team.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on level and venue, your role may include:
- Leading or supporting wine service on the floor — setting the standard for wine hospitality and building genuine, lasting relationships with guests
- Curating or contributing to the venue's wine list — thoughtful, exciting, and true to the spirit of the venue, developed in collaboration with the Group Sommelier
- Managing wine and beverage stock with discipline — ordering, receiving, rotation, storage, and accurate stocktakes
- Building supplier and producer relationships — attending tastings and staying at the forefront of what's interesting and available
- Supporting or delivering wine and beverage training — helping build a team that's genuinely knowledgeable, confident, and enthusiastic about what's in the glass
- For senior roles: contributing to venue leadership — working alongside the Venue Manager and Group Sommelier on commercial performance, events, and culture
Who We're Looking For
You're as comfortable on the floor connecting with guests as you are behind the scenes learning a list, managing stock, or supporting a training session. You lead with warmth, speak about wine with genuine enthusiasm, and understand that great hospitality and great wine go hand in hand.
You'll bring:
- Genuine, infectious passion for wine, at whatever stage of your journey
- A warm, guest-first approach to floor service
- For more senior roles: proven experience in list curation, supplier relationships, and team leadership at well-regarded venues
- Financial literacy appropriate to your level — from careful stock handling through to cost of goods and beverage reporting
- A collaborative approach to working within a venue team
- WSET or CMS study or certification is well regarded, and supported for those wanting to pursue it
What's In It For You
- Mentorship and collaboration with a Group Sommelier invested in your development
- Career progression supported across a growing, ambitious group
- Generous staff discount across all group venues
- Discounted membership to fitness partners (gym, yoga, pilates, spin)
- Excellent tips
- A collaborative, people-first team culture
If The Goodies sounds like it could be a fit for you — at any level — we'd love to hear from you. Please apply with a resume and a short note on what drew you to wine.
