Operations Manager

VM Drilling is a privately owned RC drilling company based in Kalgoorlie, serving clients throughout Western Australia. VM Drilling was established in 2004 as a one rig company and has grown organically to a reputable mid-size company. Today the business is operating 10+ Rigs and possesses extensive experience within the mining industry.
We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager, based in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, to provide leadership across operational planning, personnel management, client relationships, ensuring that all drilling programs are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and customer service.
The key responsibilities of the role are, but not limited to:
- Lead and manage all drilling operations across VM Drilling projects, ensuring maximum utilisation of rigs, personnel, support equipment, and resources.

Develop and maintain strong working relationships with existing and prospective clients, acting as the primary operational contact for key clients.

Manage operational budgets including cost control measures, project profitability and operational performance.

Workforce management - Lead and mentor supervisors and operational personnel, ensuring adequate workforce planning to support current and future projects including recruitment, performance management, succession planning and workforce development.

Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement by demonstrating leadership and commitment to VM Drilling's safety culture.

Ensuring Work Health and Safety legislation, Mining regulations, Client requirements and company policies and procedures are kept.

Monitor safety performance across all projects.

Work closely with the Maintenance Manager to maximise fleet availability and reliability, developing equipment deployment strategies to optimise utilisation.

Oversee operational logistics including personnel movements, flights and travel arrangements, site access requirements, equipment mobilisation and freight and transport coordination
About you
This position is open to both Kalgoorlie-Boulder residents and those willing to relocate to Kalgoorlie, a relocation package will be available. This is not a FIFO position.
- Extensive experience within the Mining sector, specifically RC Drilling

Must be able to multi-task, demonstrate strong organisational and people skills, be able to execute while planning for future outcomes, driving innovative solutions.

S26 required, HR-B drivers license and Cert IV in Drilling Operations highly regarded

Strong communication skills across a broad range of stakeholders, both internally and externally

RC Drilling understanding and technical ability, whilst driving commercial KPIs

Must be able to pass pre employment medical

National Police Clearance required
