About the Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Principal Software Engineer (EL2 equivalent) to support and enhance NEXUS, a mission-critical platform used by the Rescue Coordination Centre Australia (RCCA). The system plays a vital role in coordinating maritime and aviation search and rescue operations, as well as national pollution response activities.
As part of a highly capable technical team, you'll contribute to the development, support and continuous improvement of a complex cloud-based platform that delivers real-world impact.
What You’ll Do:
- Build and maintain enterprise Java applications
- Work across AWS (Lambda, S3, API Gateway, SQS)
- Develop APIs (REST/SOAP)
- Design and manage Oracle databases
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Maven, Git)
- Support releases + system improvements
- Join a small, high-performing team
Requirements
- 8+ years Java experience (Spring / Hibernate)
- Strong AWS + API development
- Solid Oracle / data modelling skills
- Experience in enterprise / gov environments
- Ability to obtain Baseline clearance
