- Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Coordinate the provision of authoritative, professional and timely advice and analysis in response to requests from oversight and advocacy functions, reviews, reports and recommendations, ensuring compliance with any statutory timeframes.
- Represent the department and lead effective stakeholder engagement with a wide range of organisations, agencies and offices.
- Coordinate the development of submissions, briefs, correspondence and project documentation ensuring a strategic and evidence-informed approach to all outputs.
- Manage and deliver strategic projects of a complex, sensitive and contentious nature, supporting youth detention centre reform priorities.
- Coordinate and/or conduct research into youth detention centre matters and other practices which may affect the policy and operations of the department, including the analysis of findings and the recommendations of appropriate courses of action.
- Maintain governance frameworks and tracking mechanisms to support the timely implementation, monitoring and reporting of recommendations and project outcomes.
- Manage the Strategic Projects and Oversight Liaison team including work planning, capability development and financial and human resource responsibilities.
- Active participation in and contribution to the governance and strategic objectives of the department.
