Primary objective
Provide effective management and contract administration for civil contracts and high-level advice on contract compliance,
and contractor performance reporting.
Context statement
The position is part of the Alice Springs Civil team responsible for the management and delivery of capital, minor new works,
specific maintenance and routine maintenance of civil, road and transport assets for the Alice Springs region. This role will
work with the Project Officers and Managers to capture all performance related matters of contract management and
undertake compliance reviews against the contract conditions.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Manage contract administration on civil contracts, including measuring compliance with the terms and conditions as well
as documenting and negotiating changes or amendments that arise during the contract period.
2. Manage contractor performance reporting, timeliness and quality of maintenance; and implement contractual
performance measures.
3. Develop and manage auditing and reporting of contracts against Key Performance Indicators and provide advice for
improvements to contract specifications and contract administration.
4. Provide training and support to Project Officers and Managers in contract management, administration and
performance reporting.
5. Project management duties for the upgrades, maintenance and inspections of transport and civil assets.
6. Provide administrative support to the Regional Director Transport and Civil Infrastructure to prepare and coordinate
day to day ministerial requests and information.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated relevant experience in contract management and contract administration roles in the civil construction
industry.
2. High level knowledge of construction and maintenance contracts, works specifications, maintenance practices and
regulatory requirements.
3. High level communication skills including the ability to effectively consult and collaborate, and build strong professional
working relationships with colleagues, contractors and external stakeholders.
4. Well developed computer skills with Microsoft platforms, databases e.g. Content manager (TRM) as well as project
management tools.
5. Well developed knowledge of contract management in a public sector environment including an understanding of
relevant legislation, policies and frameworks.
6. Demonstrated experience in document preparation and the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
Desirable
1. Current drivers licence.
2. Certificate IV in Contract Management or other relevant Business or project management qualifications.
