Team: Motor Claims – Operational Resilience
About the Opportunity - This is a hands-on, high-impact role where no two days look the same.
As a Major Event Response Specialist, you’ll be at the centre of how the business responds when it matters most — from major weather events to operational disruptions and crisis situations affecting Motor Claims.
You’ll ensure the organisation is prepared, coordinated and able to respond quickly, effectively and confidently when major events occur.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Maintain and update the Motor Event Playbook and response procedures
- Ensure all resources (people, systems, data, processes) are event-ready at all times
- Manage registers and readiness plans for rapid deployment
- Identify risks and help shape strong, practical response strategies
- Drive a culture of preparedness across Motor Claims
Lead the Response
- Work within crisis management and major event response teams
- Coordinate end-to-end response activity including:
- Resource coordination and deployment
- Communications (internal and external)
- Travel, accommodation and logistics
- Equipment and operational support
- Stay calm, structured and solution-focused during high-pressure events
Improve response
- Run post-event reviews and turn insights into real improvements
- Update playbooks and response plans based on learnings
- Stay across emerging risks, trends and best practices
- Support business continuity and disaster recovery initiatives
Stakeholders & Reporting
- Keep stakeholders informed with clear, timely updates
- Work closely with Risk teams (Line 1 and Line 2)
- Produce accurate reporting on incidents, risks and performance
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and WHS requirements (including CPS230)
About You
You’re someone who stays calm under pressure and naturally brings structure to complex situations. You’re detail-focused, highly organised, and confident working with multiple stakeholders at once.
You’ll likely bring:
- 3+ years’ experience in:
- Business continuity
- Emergency management
- Operational resilience
- Major event or crisis response
- Experience working in insurance or claims (highly regarded)
- Strong ability to plan, prioritise and execute under pressure
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Analytical thinking and a practical, solutions-focused mindset
- Confidence working in fast-moving, changing environments
