Disability Support Worker, Exercise & Mobility Support
Rehoboth is seeking an energetic and reliable Disability Support Worker to support a man in his 50s living in supported accommodation to carry out his prescribed Exercise Physiology (EP) home program. Working under the direction of his Exercise Physiologist, you will play a key role in helping him maintain mobility, build strength and balance, and reduce his risk of falls.
This is a hands-on and rewarding position suited to someone who values movement and active living, brings genuine encouragement to their work, and understands that consistency between clinical sessions is what drives meaningful, lasting outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Support the participant to complete his EP-prescribed exercise program on non-session days
- Provide physical assistance, prompting and encouragement throughout each exercise, in line with the program set by his Exercise Physiologist
- Support safe mobility, including appropriate assistance with his four-wheeled walker
- Foster motivation, routine and a positive approach to exercise
- Monitor and report on progress, changes and any concerns to the Exercise Physiologist and broader support team
- Deliver all supports safely and in accordance with the participant's individual support plans
About you
- A genuine interest in health, movement, exercise or allied health support
- Patient, encouraging and consistent in your approach
- Confident providing physical support and supervision
- Able to follow a structured program and take direction from allied health professionals
- Reliable and committed to maintaining regular shifts
- Experience supporting people with cerebral palsy, intellectual disability or complex mobility needs is highly regarded, though not essential. Training and handover will be provided by the Exercise Physiologist
Essential requirements
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- Right to work in Australia
Desirable
- Background or study in exercise science, allied health assistance, fitness or personal training
- Experience delivering home exercise programs under clinical supervision
- Current manual handling training
