The Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Carpenter (Formwork) to join our construction team in Perth, Western Australia. This is a full-time, ongoing position for a skilled carpenter with practical formwork experience and a strong commitment to quality and workplace safety.
The successful candidate will be responsible for constructing, installing, maintaining and dismantling formwork used for concrete structures across our construction projects.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Construct, assemble, erect, install, align and brace timber, plywood, metal and prefabricated formwork systems for concrete structures, including slabs, walls, beams, columns, foundations and stairways.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, engineering plans and specifications to determine formwork dimensions, layouts and construction requirements.
- Measure, mark, cut, shape and assemble timber, plywood and other formwork materials to required dimensions using hand and power tools.
- Set out, level, position and align formwork accurately in accordance with project drawings and specifications.
- Install supports, braces, ties, shutters and associated formwork components to ensure stability and structural integrity during concrete placement.
- Construct and install formwork for suspended slabs, walls, columns and other structural concrete elements.
- Inspect and adjust formwork prior to concrete placement to ensure correct dimensions, alignment, stability and workmanship.
- Strip and dismantle formwork safely following concrete curing and prepare reusable formwork materials for subsequent use.
- Repair, maintain and modify formwork components as required.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and other construction personnel to complete formwork activities safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a safe and organised work area and comply with workplace health and safety requirements, site procedures and company policies.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a Carpenter (Formwork) or Formwork Carpenter within the construction industry.
- Certificate III in Carpentry or an equivalent relevant qualification, or relevant industry experience.
- Demonstrated experience in commercial formwork construction.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, engineering plans and technical specifications.
- Experience working with timber, plywood, modular and proprietary formwork systems.
- Competency in using hand tools, power tools, levelling equipment and other relevant construction equipment.
- Sound knowledge of formwork construction, installation, bracing, alignment and stripping techniques.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a construction team.
- Reliable work ethic and willingness to work across project sites as required.
