Lendlease’s Construction Legal team is growing, and we are seeking two front-end lawyers to join our team in Sydney, with an opportunity available at each of Legal Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel level. As part of the Construction Legal team, you will play a critical role in delivering complex, high-profile construction projects across Australia.
About the Roles
As a trusted legal advisor, you will partner closely with the business and cross-functional teams to support major construction projects, focusing on front-end work including structuring and tendering, and negotiating and drafting major transactions. You will work closely with senior stakeholders and advise on strategic issues to influence business outcomes across a range of sectors, including infrastructure, data centres, health, defence, commercial and mixed-use developments.
Key responsibilities:
Providing strategic advice on project structure, risk allocation and procurement strategy.
Drafting and negotiating major construction contracts, including D&C and consultancy agreements.
Supporting bid processes and delivery pipeline.
Partnering with project teams and senior stakeholders to deliver solutions-focused outcomes that are aligned to business strategy.
Manage external counsel and ensure efficient delivery of legal services.
About You
A law degree and practising certificate.
Experience in front end construction or closely related practice areas.
Experience in private practice or in-house (including secondments into construction or property teams).
Experience in drafting and negotiating construction-related agreements.
Strong commercial acumen and the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders.
We are also keen to hear from candidates with transferable experience — for example in design consultancy, property or infrastructure or broader commercial law — who are looking to transition into construction. The continued growth of the team offers an opportunity for senior lawyers with deep experience, including those with 10+ years’ PQE seeking a long-term in-house role.
