We are seeking an experienced female Disability Support Worker, aged 30 years or older, to support a young adult participant living in Faulconbridge, NSW.
This role is particularly suited to someone with demonstrated experience supporting people with complex mental health conditions, who can provide calm, consistent, empathetic and person-centred support.
The participant is independently mobile and does not require manual handling or high-care support. The focus of the role is on community participation, building independence, developing social confidence, and supporting personal goals and interests, including an interest in animals and future study in animal care.
The support schedule is non-negotiable:

Mondays: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- Wednesdays: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Applicants must be available for the required shift times they are applying for.
Responsibilities of the role

Provide calm, consistent and person-centred support to a young adult living with complex mental health conditions.
- Build a trusting and respectful relationship through patience, empathy and strong therapeutic rapport.
- Support social participation and help build confidence in engaging safely within the community.
- Encourage and develop independence in everyday activities and decision-making.
- Support participation in meaningful activities such as reading, music, gardening, outdoor activities, television and animal-related interests.
- Encourage and support pathways towards further study, community participation and future employment goals.
- Provide community access and support with appointments, activities and other meaningful outings as required.
- Apply trauma-informed, recovery-oriented and strengths-based approaches to support.
- Recognise changes in presentation, mood or wellbeing and communicate relevant observations appropriately.
- Maintain accurate progress notes and other required support documentation.
- Communicate effectively with the participant, family and broader support team while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Respect the participant's dignity, autonomy, privacy and right to make informed choices.
- Work respectfully within a family home environment containing dogs, cats, birds and rabbits.
Applicants must have:

Female, aged 30 years or older.
- Demonstrated experience supporting people with complex mental health conditions.
- Mental health training and/or substantial experience in mental health support.
- Experience supporting people with conditions such as schizoaffective disorder, depression and eating disorders is highly desirable.
- Calm, patient, empathetic and emotionally regulated approach.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish genuine professional rapport.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Valid Australian Driver Licence.
- Reliable vehicle with current comprehensive insurance.
- Comfortable working in a home with multiple animals.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality and accurate documentation.

- Availability for Monday 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM and/or Wednesday 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM. These shift times are non-negotiable.
