About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and safety‑focused Excavator Operator to join our civil construction team in Western Australia. The successful candidate will operate heavy earthmoving machinery to support excavation, trenching, site preparation and general civil works.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating excavators — operate hydraulic excavators for digging, trenching, grading and earthmoving tasks.
- Reading site plans — interpret drawings, levels and job specifications to complete excavation accurately.
- Pre‑start inspections — conduct daily checks on hydraulics, tracks, attachments and safety systems.
- Trenching and footings — excavate trenches for utilities, drainage, foundations and civil works.
- Material handling — load trucks and move soil, gravel and debris safely.
- Attachment operation — operate augers, rock breakers, compaction wheels and other attachments.
- Backfilling and compaction — backfill excavated areas and compact materials to required levels.
- Safety compliance — follow WHS procedures, exclusion zones and traffic‑management plans.
- Ground condition monitoring — identify hazards, underground services and unstable soil.
- Routine maintenance — clean machinery, grease components and report faults.
- Record keeping — complete logbooks, pre‑start forms and hazard reports.
- Team coordination — work with supervisors, engineers and labourers to meet project timelines.
Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum 2 years’ experience operating excavators or similar earthmoving machinery.
- Experience in civil construction, earthworks or infrastructure projects.
- Ability to read and interpret site plans and levels.
- Strong understanding of WHS, load‑restraint and safe‑work procedures.
- Competence in operating various attachments (e.g., augers, breakers).
- White Card (Construction Induction).
- Valid driver’s licence (HR/HC desirable).
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.

Permanent Salary: AUD $65,000 – $80,000 per annum + superannuation
Hours: Minimum 38 hours per week
Visa: Position available to Australian citizens, permanent residents and temporary visa holders with full work rights
Pay: $65,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
