Lead safety transformation in a safety-critical, large-scale transport environment
We are seeking an accomplished Head of HSEQ to lead the strategic direction and operational delivery of the safety, environment and quality portfolio across Transdev John Holland Bus (TJHB).
This is a high-impact executive role where you will shape the next phase of safety maturity, strengthen organisational capability, and embed a culture where safety is genuinely owned by everyone.

About the Role
Sitting at the Senior Leadership table and reporting to the Managing Director, with a dotted line to the Chief Safety & Assurance Officer – Executive, you will drive a proactive, resilient and high-performing safety culture across the business.
As a trusted advisor to senior leadership, you will ensure WHS is fully integrated into organisational strategy, decision-making and frontline operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and evolve a contemporary WHS and Injury Management framework
- Drive safety culture, leadership accountability and capability uplift
- Ensure strong governance and compliance with WHS legislation
- Embed enterprise-wide risk management and continuous improvement practices
- Oversee workers compensation performance and insurer partnerships
- Leverage data, insights and technology to enhance safety outcomes
- Ensure consistency of WHS systems and practices across multiple depots and functions
- Drive ownership of environmental and sustainability matters across TJHB, leading initiatives to reduce emissions and waste generation.
- Some flexibility is available; however, this is primarily an onsite role across three bus depots (Bondi Junction, Randwick, Port Botany) and head office.
About You
You are an influential and credible HSEQ leader who can operate at both strategic and operational levels.
You bring:
- Extensive WHS leadership experience in complex, multi-site environments (transport or logistics essential)
- Deep knowledge of WHS legislation, workers compensation and injury management
- Proven success delivering WHS strategy in highly unionised settings
- Strong track record of safety culture transformation and organisational change
- Advanced capability in data-led decision making and performance improvement
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and leadership skills
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in WHS or a related discipline
- Demonstrable experience is leading on the wider HSEQ portfolio, driving through meaningful performance improvements in a complex environment.
