About Newington College and Eungai Creek Campus
Service is a large part of Newington’s vision and indeed our raison d’etre. The vision is ‘for students to develop inspired minds, great hearts and strong wings, ready to make a positive contribution to society and the future’. Our vision for students is for them to develop great characteristics and use those qualities to make a difference in both their own community and other communities. Whilst it is important for the students to prioritise their own growth and happiness, we strongly encourage and support them to use their skills and abilities to impact the world in a meaningful way. It is about contribution and giving back.
To that end were are excited for our creation of a social service and social justice focused Campus on the Mid North Coast - “Eungai Creek”, with core tenents of service, reciprocity, and sustainability We plan to have approximately 60 Year 9 student there each term. Students will be involved with local community schools and food distribution centres not for a day or a week but for a whole term in and around Kempsey. Even better, with 60 different Students there each term, we can be a reliable and sustained presence in these places. The idea of service will become ingrained in every student each year as they see the effect of their actions and their commitment. The campus is run by Mr Mark Morrison OAM who was the former head of Macleay Vocational College. Few people in Australia could guarantee a more authentic, lasting and meaningful experience for both our students and the local community.
Eungai Creek, we think, will be a great place to work and for our students to learn. If our approach appeals to you – and if you think you could contribute to our strong existing foundations – we’d like to hear from you.
