About the role
School Infrastructure is delivering new school buildings, major upgrades and maintenance strategies to ensure every school-aged child has access to high quality education facilities at their local public school. This encompasses the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW. Design and Infrastructure Standards (DaIS) is a strategic, collaborative and forward-thinking design team, who create inspiring, functional and future-proof educational environments. The DaIS team understands that great educational infrastructure is more than simply buildings – we design spaces that inspire students & staff, foster growth and inclusion, enhance learning and support future-ready education that aligns with our community’s needs.
Primary purpose of the role
Perform project management and support activities to contribute to the development and delivery of a range of projects particularly in policy alignment and inclusive design, informing updates to the Educational Facilities Standards and Guidelines (EFSG) and to support agency objectives, stakeholder priorities and the effective delivery of new and upgraded facilities across NSW.
About the role
The role supports the delivery of projects by providing a range of project management and administrative assistance to help ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, budget, and quality standards. The role sits in the Design Policy Implementation team in DaIS, ensuring key departmental policies are successfully translated and implemented into a wide variety of design activities.
As a Project Support Officer you will:
- Assist with developing and maintaining project documentation, reports, and briefs to support effective project delivery
- Coordinate project resources and track progress to help meet agreed milestones and outcomes
- Support project planning, evaluation, and risk monitoring activities under guidance
- Facilitate communication and collaboration with working groups, committees, and key stakeholders to enable informed decision-making and information sharing
- Follow established project management processes and methodologies to contribute to successful project outcomes
We are looking for someone who has:
- Background or interest in architecture, design or project management (particularly in construction-related projects)
- Experience or interest in policy development with a focus on design-related matters
- Competency in software such as CAD or Revit to support design and project documentation

About you
- Strong project management experience across multiple workstreams
- Able to effectively engage with stakeholders and communicate information clearly and professionally
- Support the delivery of work by helping to identify potential risks, manage competing priorities, and meet agreed deadlines with guidance
- Apply logical thinking to problem-solving with attention to achieving quality outcomes
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements of the role
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
