This is a hands on Management Accountant position with a strong focus on project financial performance, budgeting, forecasting, reporting and cost control.
Working closely with Finance, Project Managers and senior leaders, you will help the business understand financial performance, identify risks and opportunities, and support informed commercial decision making.
The role would suit someone who enjoys working beyond traditional accounting and wants exposure to the operational and commercial side of a fast paced construction business.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reporting
- Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts and cash flow projections
- Monitor actual project costs against budgets and investigate significant variances
- Work closely with Project Managers to understand project performance, commitments and forecast costs
- Analyse labour, plant, accommodation, subcontractor and other major project costs
- Prepare project financial reports, including cost to complete and forecast final position
- Identify financial risks, cost trends and opportunities for improved project performance
- Assist with annual budgeting and regular forecasting processes
- Analyse financial and operational information to support business decisions
- Maintain accurate financial records, reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Assist with month end and year end reporting requirements
- Support continuous improvement of financial reporting, controls and processes
- Provide financial advice and commercial support to managers across the business
About You
You will be commercially minded, analytical and comfortable working with both financial data and operational teams.
Ideally, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- Experience in management accounting, project accounting or a similar commercial finance role
- Strong budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis skills
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large data sets
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of financial accuracy
- The ability to interpret financial information and explain it clearly to non finance stakeholders
- Strong organisation and time management skills
- A practical and proactive approach to problem solving
- The confidence to question variances and investigate underlying financial performance
Pay: $90,000.00 per year
