Communications and Public Relations Senior Officer
(New Position)
Full-time, 38 hours a week – Ongoing
This is an Aboriginal Designated Position, classified under 'special measures' of Section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply.
About the Role
Join Rumbalara as our Public Relations and Communications Senior Officer , supporting the delivery of high-quality communications that promote our programs, services, events and strategic priorities.
Working closely with the Communications and Public Relations Manager, you will develop engaging written, visual and digital content, maintain digital communication channels, support communication campaigns and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. You will help strengthen Rumbalara’s visibility, community engagement and brand consistency while ensuring communications are culturally appropriate, accurate, timely and aligned with our values and strategic objectives.
About You
We are looking for an experienced communications professional with strong communication, creative and organisational skills who can effectively engage with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
Youwill ideally bring:
- At least three years’ experience in communications and marketing, with experience in a larger not-for-profit organisation highly regarded.
- Experience working within an Aboriginal organisation and/or a strong understanding of Aboriginal culture and history.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, research, speech and brief-writing skills.
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise, manage competing demands and meet deadlines.
- Strong relationship-building skills across internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in social media management and campaign delivery.
- Advanced Canva skills and intermediate to advanced experience with Adobe, video design software, website templates and Microsoft Office.
- The ability and willingness to lead or supervise staff as required.
- Qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Media, Digital Communications, Business, Project Management or a related field are highlyregarded but not mandatory.
