Job Description
Please note: Working hours and days are: Mon-Fri 6am - 4pm
As our Transport Allocator, you'll be the critical link between planning and execution — the person who turns a daily run sheet into a smoothly delivered promise, every single day.
The Daily Game Plan — Each afternoon, you'll receive the run sheet, cartage advices, delivery orders and customer job profiles, then allocate drivers their first (and sometimes second) job for the following morning — setting every driver up for a strong start.
Live Operational Control — You won't just plan and walk away. You'll track every driver's progress in real time, so the moment someone wraps up their first job, their next one is already waiting — communicated by two-way radio within 15 minutes' travel of Molineux Point. No downtime, no guesswork.
- ️ The Driver Connection — You'll confirm each driver's start time directly by radio and log it on the daily allocation pad, staying close to the pulse of the fleet all day.
The Customer Promise — When plans shift, you're the one who keeps customers in the loop — by phone first, email as backup — so nobody's ever left wondering where their delivery is.
Container Command — You'll maintain accurate records of every container delivered by side loader, and drive the timely return of all empties — including subcontractor deliveries — managing a live spreadsheet that gets reconciled every day at 5pm against what was actually delivered and dehired.
- ️ The Compliance Backbone — You'll be the safeguard behind the scenes: enforcing Mondiale VGL's Driver Fatigue Policy respecting legal weight limits, and flagging dangerous goods consignments to ensure only compliant drivers and equipment carry them.
Qualifications
-
4+ years' experience in transport allocation, freight/logistics coordination, or dispatch — within road transport, freight forwarding, or a cartage/distribution environment
-
Prior experience allocating drivers/jobs in a high-volume, time-pressured operation is highly valued
-
Experience working with side loader/container operations and empty container (dehire) management is a strong plus
Nice to have:
-
Driver Fatigue Management accreditation/training (or willingness to obtain) — given direct responsibility for enforcing fatigue policy
-
Working knowledge of Chain of Responsibility (CoR) legislation
-
Dangerous Goods awareness/certification (or demonstrated understanding of DG classification and transport requirements)
