About the role
As the Specialist – Workforce Capability & Engagement, you will play a critical leadership role in building a skilled, ready and engaged Emergency Services workforce across your state or territory.
You will lead the design and delivery of workforce capability initiatives that ensure our people, staff and volunteers, are prepared to support communities before, during and after emergencies. This includes coordinating training and development programs, strengthening workforce engagement, and driving a strong culture of readiness and continuous improvement.
Working closely with operational leaders and key stakeholders, you will assess workforce capability, identify gaps, and implement targeted solutions that uplift performance, resilience and response readiness. You will also support local teams to foster a motivated, connected and high-performing workforce aligned to Red Cross principles and values.

What you will bring
- You are a capable and experienced professional with a strong background in workforce engagement, community development, volunteer management or emergency services.
- You bring demonstrated experience supporting workforce capability and readiness, with the ability to coordinate activities, engage diverse groups and contribute to meaningful outcomes in dynamic environments. You are confident working both independently and collaboratively, and can effectively prioritise, plan and deliver across competing demands.
- Your strong communication and interpersonal skills allow you to build effective relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels. You are analytical and solutions-focused, with the ability to assess needs, identify improvements and contribute to continuous development of people and programs.
- Importantly, you are adaptable, resilient and motivated by purpose, with a genuine commitment to supporting communities through a capable and engaged emergency services workforce.
