The business supports organisations with telecommunications infrastructure, network deployments, data and communications, wireless solutions, equipment installation, site surveys, relocations and ongoing technical support.
Looking For
We are seeking an experienced and technically capable Telecommunications Network Planner to join our team in Perth, WA. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, designing and supporting customer access telecommunications network infrastructure across fibre, copper and wireless technologies.
This is a hands-on role combining network planning and design with field surveys, network validation, implementation support and performance optimisation.
Roles and Responsibilities:
· Planning and designing customer access telecommunications network infrastructure, including fibre, copper and wireless networks.
· Analysing existing network infrastructure, capacity and performance to identify expansion, upgrade and technology migration requirements.
· Conducting site surveys, field assessments and technical studies to support network planning and design.
· Developing network plans, technical designs, specifications, reports and infrastructure documentation.
· Planning fibre and copper routes, node locations and related network infrastructure deployments.
· Designing and validating wireless network coverage to identify service gaps and optimisation requirements.
· Conducting pre- and post-implementation wireless surveys and performance testing using appropriate tools, including Ekahau Sidekick 2.
· Monitoring network reliability, capacity and performance and providing technical support for network optimisation and upgrades.
· Inspecting telecommunications infrastructure, including MDF/IDF, cabling, patching and network equipment, and identifying discrepancies against approved plans.
· Supporting network implementation, equipment relocation, technology upgrades and infrastructure deployment projects.
· Working closely with engineers, field technicians, contractors, vendors and customers to ensure network projects are delivered effectively.
· Preparing cost estimates and providing technical input into infrastructure project planning and budget proposals where required.
· Maintaining accurate network plans, as-built records, technical documentation and project records.
· Assisting with troubleshooting and resolving network performance and infrastructure issues.
Skills and Attributes:
· Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree in Telecommunications, Network Engineering or a related field.
· Relevant experience of 1-2 years in telecommunications network planning, network infrastructure or a similar technical role.
· Strong understanding of fibre and copper customer access networks and wireless network planning.
· Knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, routing and switching fundamentals.
· Experience with network performance analysis, optimisation and technical documentation.
· Practical experience conducting site surveys and wireless network validation; experience with Ekahau Sidekick 2 is highly regarded.
· Knowledge of structured cabling, fibre optic infrastructure, network hardware and telecommunications equipment.
· Strong analytical, planning and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively with technical and field teams.
· Willingness to travel between sites and undertake field-based assessments as required.
· A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
Job Type & Salary:
· Full-time, permanent position.
· Salary: AUD $80,000 – $90,000 plus superannuation.
Working Hours:
· Full-time hours with flexible working arrangements depending on operational and project requirements.
· The role may require travel to customer and project sites as required.
