Description:
The Summer Internship Program provides university students with an opportunity to gain practical experience within the water industry while contributing to meaningful projects that support essential community services.
Over a 12-week period, interns will work alongside experienced professionals, develop industry knowledge, and apply their academic learning in a real-world environment. Internships may be aligned to a range of disciplines including:
- Engineering
- Science
- Environmental Science
- Information Technology
- Business and Commerce
- Project Management
By the end of the internship, participants will have:
- Gained practical workplace experience in the water industry.
- Developed professional and technical skills.
- Built industry networks and professional connections.
- Enhanced their understanding of how their discipline contributes to the delivery of essential water services.
Increased their readiness for future graduate and professional employment opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
Depending on the student's area of study and business needs, responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with the delivery of operational, technical, environmental or business projects.
- Collecting, analysing and interpreting data to support business decision-making.
- Contributing to project planning, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Supporting research activities and investigations into emerging industry trends, technologies and practices.
- Preparing reports, presentations and recommendations for stakeholders.
- Participating in team meetings, site visits and learning activities.
- Collaborating with employees across a range of departments and disciplines.
- Completing a final project summary or presentation outlining key learnings and outcomes.
