Salary Range: $80,000 – $95,000 + superannuation

Position Purpose
Ensure the optimal performance and longevity of all company-owned machinery by performing regular maintenance, diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues, and conducting preventative care. The Mechanic is also responsible for maintaining safety compliance in all tasks, coordinating with the operations team to minimise disruptions, and managing parts inventory to support continuous and efficient operations.
Job Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will service, maintain and repair the company's fleet of plant, machinery and vehicles used in demolition operations, including excavators, high-reach excavators, hydraulic breakers, concrete crushers, loaders, dump trucks, crane trucks, forklifts and light commercial vehicles. Duties include:
- Performing regular maintenance and repairs on company-owned machinery, including engines, trucks, forklifts and other heavy equipment;
- Detecting and diagnosing faults in engines and associated mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, cooling, braking, steering and transmission systems, and implementing effective repair solutions;
- Dismantling, removing, overhauling, repairing and reassembling engines, sub-assemblies and defective parts, and testing repaired plant and vehicles for correct performance;
- Conducting preventative maintenance to reduce equipment downtime and extend the lifespan of machinery;
- Carrying out field/breakdown repairs at job sites across Sydney and NSW as required;
- Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards in all maintenance tasks, and maintaining accurate service records and roadworthiness of vehicles;
- Collaborating with the operations team to schedule maintenance without disrupting project timelines;
- Ordering and managing parts inventory, ensuring necessary components are always in stock;
- Advising operators on the safe operation and care of plant and equipment, consistent with the company's safety obligations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology, Mobile Plant Technology, or a related trade qualification — or significant relevant experience with multiple engine types (equivalent overseas qualifications considered);
- Minimum of 2 years of experience servicing, maintaining and repairing engines, vehicles, machinery and/or mobile plant, ideally in demolition, construction, earthmoving or transport;
- Possession of a white card and a valid driver's licence (MR/HR licence highly regarded);
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills, and a demonstrated commitment to safe work practices.
Pay: $80,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
