Going-there is a global Destination Services provider, supporting relocating employees and their families in over 150 cities worldwide. We are part of the larger global mobility and relocation industry, and are currently looking for a Destination Services Coordinator based in Melbourne - Australia
The role
This is a freelance, project-based position. It is not full-time or part-time employment, but a flexible opportunity that can sit alongside other professional commitments.
Projects typically involve 1–5 days of contact with the employee across several weeks – from initial contact via email through to arrival and settling in. Some support is delivered in-person around Melbourne and the surrounding area, with the remainder managed remotely from a home office.
As a Destination Coordinator, you’ll be the trusted local expert for the employee and their family – helping them find a home, understand the city, and get settled. In practice, that means:
· Sourcing and arranging property viewings, explaining the local rental process, and assisting with lease review and handover.
· Building and maintaining relationships with local estate agents.
· Guiding families through school options, application processes and registration.
· Facilitating practical essentials – utilities, banking, driving licence, local registration.
· Providing orientation on transport, neighbourhoods, shopping and community life.
· Responding to assignee queries and clarifying local processes and expectations.
You’ll often be the first friendly face in an unfamiliar environment. The role calls for a calm, approachable manner alongside strong local knowledge, genuine warmth and professional reliability.
What we’re looking for
Essential
· Currently based in or near Melbourne with at least one year of local living experience.
· Strong knowledge of the city’s neighbourhoods, schools and rental market.
· A car and a full driving licence – travel across Melbourne and surrounding areas is required.
· Fluent English, both written and spoken.
· A genuine desire to help people – this is a customer service role helping people through what can be a stressful transition.
· Clear, professional communication – much of the role is handled remotely, and your contacts will often be senior professionals and their families.
· Cultural awareness and a personable, positive manner.
· The ability to stay composed and plan clearly under pressure – timelines shift and information is sometimes limited.
· A home office setup with reliable technology.
Preferred
· International experience – having lived abroad or relocated yourself (please include details in your cover letter).
· Previous experience in destination services or the wider relocation industry.
Why join Going-there?
· Flexible and varied work that fits around other commitments.
· Ongoing development through GT Academy and CDCP certification.
· A global network of colleagues and clients.
· Competitive, project-based rates reflecting your expertise.
Please note that this is ad-hoc, project-based work rather than a consistent income stream. It’s best suited to someone comfortable with a variable schedule. If you’re looking for regular hours or guaranteed weekly earnings, this role is unlikely to meet your needs.
