About the Role:
We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Boning Room Foreperson at our Cobram Plant. The Right candidate will provide leadership, coordination, and support to the Fabrication Room team to ensure the attainment of production, quality/FSQA and workplace Health and Safety. This is a full-time position with annual salary not less than $79,499.00 plus superannuation.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of the working area to ensure efficiency, productivity, and adherence to food safety standards. Assist in coordinating and managing shift activities, with a focus on quality and compliance.
- Conduct thorough inspections of livestock, carcasses, and meat products to identify any disease or quality concerns, and provide guidance where necessary. Test and examine samples of meat and related products to verify size, purity, and safety requirements.
- Inspect meat products for compliance with biosecurity and food safety regulations, issuing directions to manage risks when required. Monitor and maintain quality control standards throughout the production process, including hygiene and product integrity.
- Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company QA/QC policies and support internal audits and collaborate with QA staff to address non-compliances and implement corrective actions.
- Assist room supervisor with day-to-day operations and take direction. Liaise with Quality Assurance officers to ensure Fabrication room meets food safety standards.
- Assist in the process to ensure that all operatives are trained up as required. Assist in reaching production targets.
- Display an understanding and be able to enforce the requirements for each of the SOP’s that are relevant to this department e.g. EU, Halal, SA, FRL, BSE etc.
- Train, mentor, and supervise team members to enhance skills, performance, and awareness of food safety culture, and maintain accurate records and reports related to production, employee performance, and compliance monitoring.
- Maintain related accurate records and reports.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and support WHS and environmental systems. Contribute to the development and adherence of SOPs, work instructions, and company procedures.
About you:
- A relevant Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma. Or at least 3 years of relevant work experience as a substitute
- At least 1 year of relevant work experience
- Good organisational and leadership Skills Business services
- Demonstrated commitment to meeting all requirements in relation to food safety, people safety and maintenance and enhancement of brand integrity.
- Sound technical knowledge of meat processing
- Must be energetic, passionate and enthusiastic with a demonstrated focus on system improvement
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and practical problem-solving skills
