The Heart of the Role
The Middle School Science Teacher ignites curiosity and inspires discovery through the exploration of the natural world. In this role, you will nurture a sense of wonder in every boy — helping him to question, investigate, and understand how science shapes his world.
Working within the Science Faculty and under the guidance of the Head of Science, you will deliver engaging, well-structured lessons aligned with the NSW Science curriculum (Years 7–9). You will foster a learning environment that challenges and supports students to think critically, collaborate effectively, and develop confidence in scientific inquiry.
At The Scots College, you will contribute to a culture of learning, character, and Christian faith — where each boy is encouraged to strive for excellence and live with purpose.
Who are you?
You are an enthusiastic and dedicated Science educator who brings both expertise and excitement to the classroom.
You hold recognised teaching qualifications and registration with NESA, with the ability to teach Science from Years 7–9.
You bring a strong understanding of how to engage middle years learners — blending hands-on investigation, digital learning, and real-world relevance to spark curiosity and confidence.
You design and deliver lessons that balance rigour and creativity, ensuring that every student experiences success and challenge at their level.
You are collaborative and professional, working closely with colleagues, parents, and specialist teams to support holistic student growth.
You are reflective, adaptable, and committed to continuous professional learning.
You bring an authentic Christian faith that shapes your approach to teaching, relationships, and service.
Where do you fit in?
You are energised by the opportunity to serve within a Christian, Presbyterian GPS school committed to excellence in boys’ education.
You thrive in a collegial, innovative environment that values curiosity, collaboration, and growth.
You are motivated by purpose — helping young men develop not only their scientific understanding, but also the habits of mind that will serve them throughout life: curiosity, perseverance, and integrity.
You see your role as both educator and mentor — inspiring boys to explore the “why” and “how” behind the world around them.
How do you serve others?
You design and deliver engaging, hands-on lessons that promote inquiry, critical thinking, and scientific literacy.
You use data and feedback to guide your teaching, ensuring that learning is responsive to the needs and strengths of each student.
You provide clear communication and constructive feedback to students and families, supporting every boy’s learning journey.
You contribute to the pastoral and co-curricular life of the College, modelling Christian character, curiosity, and service.
You work collaboratively within the Science Faculty and across the Middle School to promote a cohesive, caring, and forward-thinking learning community.
