About the Role:
ACT Pathology is a division of Canberra Health Services, with laboratories located at both Canberra Hospital and North Canberra Hospital operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, year-round. Collection Centres are also located across several community sites. ACT Pathology provides diagnostic and consultative services to medical specialists and general practitioners and their patients in both hospital and community settings. As major infrastructure programs continue across both hospital campuses, including planning for a new laboratory, this is an exciting time to be part of a service that is evolving to support contemporary healthcare delivery. The Mortuary is routinely staffed Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays, with occasional requirements to work outside standard hours.
This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to essential healthcare services by supporting the respectful care and handling of deceased persons within the mortuary. Working as part of a small, dedicated team, you will assist with mortuary operations and post-mortem activities, ensuring all work is carried out with professionalism, care and attention to detail. You will liaise sensitively and discreetly with clinical staff, funeral directors, and other stakeholders, while maintaining accurate records and adhering to strict clinical, safety, and legislative requirements. The position requires someone who is self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively, with a strong commitment to high-quality service.
