Position Summary
We are looking for a dependable, caring and person-focused Support Worker to assist an NDIS participant with community participation and everyday activities.
The role will mainly involve supporting the participant to get out into the community, attend appointments, complete shopping and errands, participate in activities they enjoy, and build greater independence in line with their NDIS goals.
From time to time, the participant may also require some assistance at home depending on their individual needs, choices and support requirements.
Shifts will usually be scheduled for a minimum of four hours, with opportunities for additional or longer shifts as the participant’s supports increase.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a Support Worker, you may be required to:
- Assist the participant to safely access and participate in the community.
- Support attendance at medical appointments, allied health sessions and other scheduled commitments.
- Encourage involvement in recreational, social and community-based activities.
- Assist the participant with grocery shopping, errands and accessing local services.
- Provide transport, or accompany the participant using appropriate and approved transport arrangements.
- Promote independence by encouraging the participant to make their own choices and complete tasks where possible.
- Provide respectful companionship and emotional support while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Assist with basic household activities when needed, including light tidying, simple meal preparation and organising personal belongings.
- Provide support with everyday activities in the participant’s home when requested and where this falls within your role, training and experience.
- Work in accordance with the participant’s individual support plan, risk management strategies, behaviour support strategies and personal preferences.
- Maintain accurate shift records, progress notes and other required documentation.
- Promptly communicate any incidents, identified risks, changes in the participant’s presentation or other concerns to management.
- Respect and protect the participant’s privacy, dignity, confidentiality, independence and right to make choices.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Experience in disability support, aged care, community services or a similar support environment is highly regarded.
- A current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- A current Working with Children Check, where required for the position.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- A valid Australian driver’s licence.
- Access to a safe, registered and appropriately insured vehicle.
- Ability to prepare professional, clear and accurate progress notes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good organisation, punctuality and time-management skills.
- Confidence working independently while following workplace procedures, policies and reporting requirements.

Employment Details
- Employment type: Casual.
- Shifts may be available across weekdays, evenings and weekends.
- Shifts will generally start from four hours, with the potential for increased hours or additional shifts over time.
Pay: $34.44 per hour
