GQC AUSTRALIA is a Sydney-based financial services business providing cross-border currency and transaction-related support for individual and business clients.
As our business continues to grow, we are strengthening our internal compliance, AML/CTF, financial crime risk management and operational governance capability. We are seeking an experienced AML/CTF & Financial Crime Compliance Officer to help maintain, improve and support our compliance framework.
This role is suitable for a compliance professional with prior experience in banking, regulated financial services, exchange, OTC, remittance, payments, brokerage, digital assets or other transaction-based financial services environments.
About the Role
The successful candidate will work closely with management and operational teams to support customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, transaction monitoring, financial crime risk identification, compliance documentation, policy improvement and regulatory readiness.
This is a practical compliance role requiring strong judgement, attention to detail and the ability to translate regulatory expectations into clear internal processes. The role is ideal for someone who understands both the regulatory requirements and the operational realities of a fast-moving financial services environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, review and improve AML/CTF policies, procedures and internal controls.
- Support the implementation and ongoing operation of the company’s AML/CTF compliance framework.
- Review customer onboarding files, KYC documentation and customer risk assessments.
- Conduct customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence and ongoing customer monitoring.
- Assist with transaction monitoring, unusual activity reviews and sanctions screening.
- Identify, assess and escalate potential financial crime, AML/CTF and compliance risks.
- Support suspicious matter reporting and other AML/CTF regulatory obligations where required.
- Maintain accurate compliance records, audit trails and evidence of decision-making.
- Assist with internal compliance reviews, control testing, remediation actions and staff training.
- Monitor regulatory updates and recommend practical improvements to internal processes.
- Work with management, operational staff, external advisers and relevant stakeholders on compliance matters.
About You
- Previous experience in banking or a regulated financial services environment is strongly preferred.
- Experience in exchange, OTC, remittance, payments, brokerage, digital assets or other transaction-based financial services environments is highly regarded.
- Experience in AML/CTF, financial crime compliance, KYC, CDD, ECDD, sanctions, transaction monitoring or risk management is required.
- Strong understanding of Australian AML/CTF obligations, AUSTRAC expectations and risk-based compliance practices.
- Ability to review customer files, identify risk indicators and document compliance decisions clearly.
- Strong attention to detail, professional integrity and sound judgement.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with management and operational teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Professional working proficiency in Mandarin or Cantonese is strongly preferred, as the role may involve reviewing or coordinating Chinese-language customer documentation, transaction-related materials and internal communication.
Highly Regarded
- ACAMS, ICA or other AML/CTF, compliance, legal, finance, risk or related qualifications.
- Experience preparing compliance reports, policy documents, audit materials or regulatory response documentation.
- Experience working in a fast-paced financial services environment involving high-volume client or transaction review.
- Experience supporting internal audits, compliance reviews or remediation projects.
