Sydney Local Health District is seeking a highly motivated Unaccredited Neurosurgery Trainee to enhance their surgical career with the Team at Concord Hospital
What you will be doing
This position is open to qualified candidates who have experience and interest in Neurosurgery. You will be involved in the care and management of Neurosurgery inpatients as well as attend Neurosurgery outpatient clinics.
This is a great opportunity for you to gain procedural competence in many aspects of Neurosurgery as well as exposure to a broad range of neurosurgical diseases including neuro-oncology, neuro-trauma, hydrocephalus, peripheral nerve and degenerative and traumatic spinal disease.
There will also be the opportunity to enhance your research skills, undertake peer review and audit projects and deliver research presentations.
This role is an ideal stepping stone to work towards acceptance into a recognised neurosurgical accredited training program.
The Department of Neurosurgery
The Neurosurgery Department comprises 3 consultants who provide a comprehensive inpatient and outpatient Neurosurgical service, treating intracranial, spinal and peripheral nerve disorders. The department has a particular interest in minimally invasive and complex spine surgery, brain tumour surgery, pituitary surgery, skull base surgery, treatment of CSF disorders and trigeminal neuralgia. The department also serves as a tertiary referral centre for Canterbury Hospital.

Concord Repatriation General Hospital is a principal referral facility and a teaching hospital of the University of Sydney. We offer a comprehensive range of specialty and sub-specialty services, many recognised nationally and internationally as Centre’s of excellence. Major services include colorectal and laparoscopic surgery, gastroenterology, geriatrics and rehabilitation medicine, bone and joint services, cancer services, haematology, respiratory medicine and sleep studies, molecular biology and genetics, and those provided through the internationally acknowledged Statewide Burns Service, in which Concord plays a major part. Concord Hospital maintains string links to the veteran community.
