The Manager, School Financial Management Support will provide strategic direction, drive continuous change and system improvements and manage teams in supporting Victorian Government Schools in high level finance related advice to central policy, while also strengthening stakeholder engagement across the region and central divisions.
About the Department
The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
Schools Finance and Resources Branch
The School Finance and Resource Branch (SFRB) is responsible for managing the efficient and effective allocation of resources to Government and Non-Government schools, congruent with the Government's priorities, school education reform agenda and within the department's strategic planning and budget framework. SFRB also provides leadership in defining and communicating school funding policy and the department's Student Resource Package (SRP) funding process.
The branch leads and manages school funding reform in Victorian government schools within an approved budget provision and facilitates sound financial management in schools through the design and development of support mechanisms and systems, and continuous professional development.
About the Role
The manager role has a major emphasis on:

The provision of advice to schools on business processes, department policies and best practice internal controls as they relate to school financial management.

Liaising with key stakeholders, both internal and external.

The development and delivery of briefings and correspondence on behalf of the Deputy Secretary and Minister for Education.

The provision of advice and guidance on the interpretation of school financial information.

The development and improvement of financial policies and practices as they relate to schools' finances, including the Finance Manual for Victorian Government Schools and CASES21 Business Process Guides.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Essential: Knowledge of operating environment and financial management processes as they relate to schools
Desirable: Relevant tertiary degree
