As an enthusiastic Gallery Assistant, you will support the delivery of exhibitions, public programs and visitor services within Camden’s gallery and cultural spaces. You will help create a welcoming and engaging experience for visitors while assisting with the day-to-day presentation and operation of the gallery environment.
You will need strong communication and customer service skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Flexibility to work across weekdays, weekends and occasional exhibition or event hours on a rostered basis will be important in this role.

Essential:
- Demonstrated experience in the successful delivery of art facilitation and exhibitions, workshops, classes and creative activities that are well presented and inclusive.
- Proven ability to collaborate and effectively prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities in a small team.
- Proven ability to apply practical art and creative skills in a gallery, workshop or community arts environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to deliver positive customer experiences.
- Demonstrated proficiency using standard office software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and presentation tools (e.g.,
- Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent)
- Valid Working with Children Check (WWC)
Desirable:
- Experience working with collection management systems
- Demonstrated proficiency using standard design software applications e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or equivalent.
- Understanding and genuine interest in of the Camden region, it’s history and culture.
