We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and reliable English teacher to support our Secondary students, which prepares high-achieving students for competitive academic examinations and advanced secondary studies.
This role is ideal for experienced English tutors with strong knowledge who enjoy working with capable and motivated learners.
Working Hours
Applicants should be available after school hours on weekdays and/or Saturdays.
Current class times are:
- Wednesdays: 5:00 pm - 8:00pm
- Thursdays & Fridays: 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
- Saturdays: 11:30 am – 1:30 pm
About the Role
You will deliver high-quality English and literacy tuition to small groups of students (typically 2 to 8 students per class). This role requires no lesson planning, as all comprehensive curriculum materials, worksheets, and course booklets are fully provided by the college.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Deliver engaging lessons focusing on reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and essay writing.
- Prepare students for high-stakes assessments, including NAPLAN, Scholarship Exams, and Selective Schools Entrance Tests.
- Evaluate student work, provide detailed, constructive feedback, and track individual progress.
- Maintain a positive, focused, and encouraging classroom environment.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Strong academic background in English, Literature, Education, or a related discipline.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts simply.
- High familiarity with the Australian/Victorian Curriculum and specialized exams (Selective Schools/Scholarships) is highly regarded.
- A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) is mandatory.
- Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration is a major advantage.
Current university students studying Masters in Education are encouraged to apply.
