Strive to Thrive Education Centre is seeking an experienced and confident Year 11–12 English Tutor to join our team in Canning Vale.
The role involves supporting senior secondary students with English coursework, assessment preparation, essay writing, text analysis and exam skills. We are looking for someone who can provide clear academic guidance while helping students become more confident, independent and organised.
This is a face-to-face casual position with regular after-school and weekend classes.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach English to Year 11 and Year 12 students.
- Support students with analytical, persuasive and creative writing.
- Help students plan, structure and improve essays and written responses.
- Teach close reading, text analysis, interpretation and evidence-based writing.
- Support students with school assessments, assignments and exam preparation.
- Provide feedback on drafts without completing assessed work for students.
- Help students improve grammar, expression, vocabulary and paragraph structure.
- Teach time-management and exam-response strategies.
- Record attendance, lesson notes and student progress.
- Communicate any academic concerns to the centre.
Essential Requirements
- Strong knowledge of senior secondary English.
- Ability to teach essay writing, textual analysis and exam preparation.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence working with Year 11 and Year 12 students.
- Reliable availability for regular weekly classes.
- Australian working rights.
- Valid Working With Children Check, or willingness and eligibility to obtain one.
- Ability to work face-to-face in Canning Vale.
- Commitment for at least 12 months.
Highly Desirable
- Current or previous experience teaching Year 11–12 English.
- Experience with the WA senior secondary curriculum.
- Familiarity with ATAR English requirements and assessment standards.
- Teaching qualification and TRBWA registration preferred.
- Experience preparing students for timed essays and final examinations.
- Experience supporting students who are underperforming or lacking confidence.
