The Critical Care SRMO Program offers SRMOs the opportunity to develop advanced clinical skills through rotations in:

Working within multidisciplinary teams and under the supervision of experienced senior clinicians, trainees gain exposure to the assessment and management of acutely unwell patients, emergency presentations, perioperative care, trauma management and critical care medicine. The program is designed to strengthen clinical decision-making, procedural skills and confidence in managing complex patients across a range of acute care settings.
Rotations are based at Royal North Shore Hospital, a leading tertiary referral and major trauma centre and North Shore Private Hospital, providing a unique blend of public and private healthcare experience. This combination offers exposure to a broad and diverse case mix, making the program an excellent foundation for future training in critical care specialties including Intensive Care Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Trauma and Anaesthesia.

What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the Critical Care Senior Resident Medical Officer (SRMO) is to provide clinical care, under appropriate supervision, to patients in a complex clinical environment. This position will provide experience in a critical care environment and have responsibilities and opportunities for autonomous practice commensurate with the level of experience of the incumbent.
The Critical Care Senior Resident Medical Officer (SRMO) position is suitable for applicants wishing to obtain further critical care experience in preparation for a career in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care. Royal North Shore and North Shore Private have a strong commitment to vocational training and career support. The Critical Care Senior Resident Medical Officer clinical year consists of 4 terms rotational between Royal North Shore Hospital and North Shore Private Hospitals.

To be employed by NSW Health, applicants must provide evidence of vaccination and comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy Directive (PD2024_01.
