General Practitioner (Contractor) – Addiction & Mental Health Services
Arrow Health is seeking a passionate and patient-centred General Practitioner to join our growing multidisciplinary team on a contractor basis.
This opportunity is ideal for a GP with an interest in addiction medicine, mental health, behavioural change, lifestyle medicine, chronic disease management, or complex care, who is seeking meaningful clinical work within a highly supportive and collaborative environment.
About Arrow Health
Founded in 2014, Arrow Health is a leading private provider of addiction and mental health treatment services in Victoria. Located in the Macedon Ranges, our service incorporates:
- A private psychiatric hospital
- Medically supervised withdrawal and stabilisation programs
- Residential rehabilitation services
- Day programs and outpatient services
- Family support programs
- Long-term recovery and aftercare services
Our philosophy is built on the understanding that addiction and mental illness are complex, multifaceted conditions requiring integrated treatment that addresses biological, psychological, social, and behavioural factors.
At Arrow Health, clinicians have the opportunity to work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, counsellors, case managers, behavioural change specialists, support workers, and lived-experience professionals.
Why Clinicians Choose Arrow Health
Arrow Health offers something increasingly rare in modern healthcare: the ability to spend meaningful time with patients while working within a truly integrated model of care.
As a consulting GP, you will be supported by:
- A highly experienced multidisciplinary team
- Established clinical governance frameworks
- Dedicated nursing support
- Psychiatric specialist collaboration
- Comprehensive assessment and care planning processes
- Strong administrative and operational support
- A therapeutic environment specifically designed to promote recovery and wellbeing
Unlike traditional general practice settings, clinicians are able to focus on providing quality care without the pressures of high-volume patient throughput.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a contractor GP to provide medical oversight and support for patients participating in our treatment programs.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Admission medical assessments
- Withdrawal and detoxification support
- Medication reviews and prescribing
- Ongoing medical monitoring
- Mental health and physical health assessments
- Participation in multidisciplinary care planning
- Clinical consultation with nursing and therapeutic staff
- Coordination with external treating practitioners where required
The role is expected to involve approximately 2–3 hours per day, however there is significant flexibility around scheduling and scope of engagement.
Additional consulting opportunities may be available as the service continues to expand.
About You
You will:
- Hold current registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
- Be eligible to practise independently as a General Practitioner
- Have excellent communication and collaborative skills
- Be interested in working within a multidisciplinary model of care
- Demonstrate a genuine passion for improving the lives of people affected by addiction and mental health challenges
Experience in addiction medicine, mental health, psychiatry, withdrawal management, lifestyle medicine, or behavioural health is highly regarded but not essential.
What Makes This Role Different?
Every day at Arrow Health, clinicians have the opportunity to make a profound impact on individuals and families affected by addiction and mental illness.
You will be joining a service with a strong reputation for clinical excellence, innovation, compassion, and long-term recovery outcomes. Our team is committed to advancing best-practice treatment while helping people rebuild their health, relationships, and future.
