Forever Bridal & Formal is seeking a Seamstress (Casual) to join our Alterations team at our store in Stafford, north-side Brisbane (near Chermside). We are looking for an experienced, creative and enthusiastic seamstress who already has good sewing experience in basic foundations and can work in the art of delicate fabrics, as well as learning more about wedding dress alterations.
We are a locally owned boutique-style business retailing in Bridal and Formal Wear with an in-house alterations service. We pride ourselves in excellent customer service altering and restyling garments to suit clients’ body types and requirements, as well as using an enormous selection of beading, belts, bling, crystal, straps, laces, flowers, sleeves, and jackets to customize.
Skills & Experience required:
- Must have good basic foundations in sewing skills & techniques
- Experience with an industrial machine is essential (Juki is preferred)
- Bridal and formal-wear alterations, resizing, re-designing & customising
- Highly creative with an eye for detail
- Passionate about delivering quality service
- Ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with customers
- Must be reliable/have own transport to ensure punctuality
Your initial duties will include, but not be limited to:
- You will be instructed by our in-house professional Seamstress & Pattern Maker
- Alterations to Bridal & Formal wear garments
- Hand-stitching, bustling, beading, embroidery
- Understand different sewing fabrics, styles and patterns (Chiffon, Lace, Satin, etc )
- Potential to be involved in bridal and formal wear fittings and alterations based on your skill level at the time.
Work Hours: Approx 6.5 hours min each week
- Casual (applicable Award Casual rates from $25-$40/hour depending on age/experience)
- Ability to work flexible days/hours
- Work in-store at Stafford (Tue-Sat) or outsourcing from home
- Store closed: Sunday, Monday, Public Holidays
