Greater Shepparton City Council has an opportunity for an organised and detail-oriented individual to join the Building Planning and Compliance Department as a Permit & Inspections Officer.
This role is responsible for undertaking inspections and compliance activities, administering a range of Council permits, maintaining accurate records, and providing professional advice and assistance to residents, property owners, businesses, contractors and other stakeholders.
The position plays an important role in delivering Council's regulatory and permit services, including swimming pool and spa safety compliance, local law permit administration, and parking infrastructure management.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Undertaking swimming pool, spa and safety barrier inspections and audits.
- Processing pool and spa registrations, permit applications and associated administrative requirements.
- Administering a range of local law permits, including footpath licences, event permits, asset protection permits, temporary parking permits and other community living permits.
- Conducting inspections, compliance checks, renewals and follow-up activities to support regulatory outcomes.
- Providing advice and guidance regarding building legislation, local laws, permits and compliance requirements.
- Maintaining accurate inspection, permit and compliance records and documentation.
- Coordinating parking meter maintenance, inspections, coin collection and reconciliation activities, and supporting the management of Council parking infrastructure.
- Managing customer enquiries and resolving issues professionally and efficiently.
- Assisting in achieving compliance outcomes through consultation, communication and education.
This position would suit someone with strong customer service, administration, communication and problem-solving skills who is looking to broaden their experience across compliance, permit administration, inspections and regulatory services within local government.
