Ausmet Doorframes Pty Ltd is seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development and continuous improvement of its steel door frame manufacturing operations. The successful applicant will be responsible for improving production efficiency, developing manufacturing solutions, maintaining engineering standards, and supporting the delivery of high-quality products to the Australian construction industry.
Main Responsibilities
- Design, develop and improve manufacturing processes, production systems and mechanical equipment used in the fabrication of steel door frames.
- Analyse production workflows and recommend engineering solutions to improve productivity, product quality and operational efficiency.
- Prepare and review engineering drawings, technical specifications and manufacturing documentation.
- Select appropriate materials, fabrication methods and production techniques to meet quality, safety and Australian Standards.
- Assist in the design, installation, commissioning and optimisation of production machinery and manufacturing equipment.
- Investigate production issues, equipment failures and quality concerns, and develop practical engineering solutions to minimise downtime.
- Conduct engineering calculations and technical analysis relating to manufacturing processes, material performance and equipment capability.
- Coordinate with production staff, workshop supervisors, suppliers and external contractors to ensure engineering requirements are effectively implemented.
- Monitor manufacturing performance and recommend continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve efficiency and maintain product consistency.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with relevant Australian Standards, Workplace Health and Safety requirements and company quality management procedures.
- Prepare engineering reports, maintenance recommendations and technical documentation to support business operations and future production planning.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor degree or above qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- At least two years of relevant mechanical engineering experience in manufacturing, fabrication or industrial production.
- Experience in sheet metal fabrication, steel manufacturing or industrial machinery will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and manufacturing documentation.
- Knowledge of Australian Standards, WHS requirements and manufacturing quality systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks or other engineering design software is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a manufacturing environment.
Base annual salary range from $90,000 – $120,000 plus superannuation.
