Assistant Project Officer
Grade: 5/6
Salary range: $99,938-$110,271 + superannuation and leave loading
Duration: temporary full time role for up to 12 months
Location: Hybrid with an in-office requirement 2 days a week in Sydney, McKell. This may be subject to change in line with DCS workplace policies
Support essential financial governance and operational coordination for a high‑performing TechOps environment
We are seeking a detail‑focused and proactive professional to support financial governance, procurement coordination and operational reporting within NSW Telco Authority’s Technology Operations (TechOps) team.
About the team
This role sits within the Technology Operations (TechOps) team in the NSW Telco Authority.
The team supports the delivery of operational telecommunications services and is currently undergoing significant system and process uplift. The role plays a key part in strengthening governance, improving processes and ensuring compliance with regulatory and organisational requirements.
Your responsibilities will include

Conducting detailed analysis of monthly financial reports, identifying trends, anomalies and risks, and escalating as required

Supporting procurement processes, including raising and managing purchase orders (POs) for operational and support activities

Preparing and supporting governance documentation and briefs (e.g. PRF/PO approvals)

Validating, tracking and maintaining purchase orders within SAP, ensuring alignment with contracts, budgets and business requirements

Managing financial reconciliation activities, including reviewing invoices (e.g. via TRIM), validating costs against POs and ensuring accurate expenditure tracking

Supporting compliance with financial governance and organisational policies, ensuring all actions are audit‑ready and documented

Contributing to process improvements and system uplift activities within the TechOps environment

Providing general project, reporting and coordination support across the team

To be successful in this role you will have

Experience conducting financial reporting and analysis, including identifying trends and anomalies

Strong understanding of financial governance, compliance and controls

Experience with reconciliation and invoice management processes

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with high attention to detail

Ability to manage multiple tasks and operate effectively in a fast‑paced environment
Desirable:

Experience using TRIM (records management system)

Experience working with SAP or similar financial/procurement systems
-
Exposure to government financial and procurement processes
-
Experience in technology, telecommunications or operational environments
This role may require additional enhanced security vetting.
