Due to continued business growth, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Architectural Draftsperson to support the design, drafting, detailing, and documentation of light gauge steel framing systems for residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects.
Role Overview:
The Architectural Draftsperson is responsible for preparing detailed architectural and fabrication drawings, developing construction documentation, and coordinating with engineering, production, and project teams to ensure designs meet client requirements, Australian Standards, and manufacturing specifications.
This role focuses on technical drafting, design documentation, and project coordination to support efficient manufacturing and successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
· Prepare detailed drawings and documentation for residential, commercial, and light gauge steel framing projects.
· Develop floor plans, site plans, elevations, sections, construction details, framing layouts, and other technical drawings using CAD and specialised drafting software.
· Prepare and update design documentation to reflect project requirements, design modifications, engineering input, and client specifications.
· Work closely with architects, engineers, builders, developers, and clients to ensure project documentation meets design and construction requirements.
· Coordinate drawing packages for planning approvals, construction, manufacturing, and installation purposes.
· Review architectural, structural, and project documentation to identify potential design conflicts, documentation inconsistencies, and construction-related issues.
· Produce detailed framing drawings, fabrication details, material schedules, and component lists to support manufacturing operations.
· Assist project and production teams by providing technical clarification on drawings, specifications, and design requirements.
· Incorporate site information, planning requirements, engineering details, and project specifications into drafting deliverables.
· Prepare preliminary layouts and detailed design solutions for residential dwellings, multi-residential developments, commercial buildings, and steel framing systems.
· Monitor the accuracy and completeness of project documentation to ensure compliance with relevant building regulations, industry standards, and company requirements.
· Maintain drawing registers, revision records, and document control systems throughout project lifecycles.
· Assist in managing drafting priorities and documentation schedules to support project milestones and production deadlines.
· Participate in project meetings and collaborate with stakeholders to implement approved design changes and project updates.
· Contribute to improving drafting procedures, documentation standards, and workflow efficiency across residential, commercial, and manufacturing projects.
· Ensure all work is performed in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements, company procedures, and applicable industry standards.
Requirements – Skills & Competencies
Essential
· Minimum 3 years’ experience as an Architectural Draftsperson, or similar drafting role.
· Relevant qualification in Architectural Drafting or Design, Building Design, Construction Technology, or related field.
· Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant drafting software.
· Strong ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and engineering drawings.
· Knowledge of Australian Building Codes, Standards, and construction documentation requirements.
· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in technical documentation.
· Strong organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
· Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Desirable
· Experience in light gauge steel framing, structural steel, or prefabricated building systems.
· Experience using specialised steel framing software such as Vertex BD, FRAMECAD, Scottsdale, or equivalent.
· Knowledge of BIM workflows and 3D modelling software.
· Understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes.
· Mandarin language skills (advantageous).
· Experience working in residential and commercial construction projects.
Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
