At Daydream Explorers, we're looking for passionate Disability Support Workers who want to actively participate in adventures alongside our participants while supporting them to build confidence, independence, social connections and life skills.
Our community access day programs are all about getting out and experiencing life. One day we might be exploring a museum, heading off-road in our wheelchair accessible 4WD vehicles, visiting a wildlife sanctuary, attending a sporting event, singing karaoke, bowling, kayaking, or enjoying a day at the beach.
We're looking for support workers who aren't afraid to jump in, have fun, and genuinely engage with participants while encouraging choice, inclusion, growth and independence.
About the Role
You will support participants of varying ages and support needs within our community access programs and individual supports.
Responsibilities may include:
- Supporting participants to access and engage in community-based activities
- Encouraging independence, social interaction and skill development
- Assisting with personal care and daily living supports when required
- Providing mealtime support and following mealtime management plans
- Supporting participants with communication needs, including non-verbal communication
- Implementing behaviour support strategies and positive behaviour support approaches
- Administering medications where required
- Completing accurate progress notes and documentation
- Ensuring participant safety while promoting dignity, choice and control
About You
You are someone who:
- Has a genuine passion for supporting people with disability
- Enjoys being active, social and involved in community activities
- Builds positive relationships with participants, families and team members
- Can think on your feet and adapt to different situations
- Understands that meaningful support involves participating alongside people, not simply supervising from a distance
- Brings a positive attitude, energy and sense of fun to everyday
Highly Regarded Experience
Experience supporting participants with:
- Personal care support
- Complex physical support needs
- Mealtime management plans
- PEG feeding
- Non-verbal communication
- Behaviour support plans and restrictive practices
- High-intensity supports
- Social and community participation supports
Essential Requirements
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
- Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Current Driver's Licence (company vehicle provided for support)
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- Full Australian working rights
