About the position
The role has a strong external focus, working in partnership with industry, business, community organisations and all levels of government to attract new industries while supporting business retention, innovation, and precinct activation. It positions the region as a competitive and desirable location for investment, aligned with Council’s Community Strategic Plan and economic development priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of integrated economic development and investment strategies that drive regional change and industry diversification
- Facilitate and secure significant private and public investment by managing the end-to-end investment lifecycle and serving as the primary point of contact for prospective investors
- Position the region and lead the promotion of the region’s competitive advantages through targeted investment strategies, marketing, and engagement activities to attract priority industries and capital
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including government agencies, industry leaders, developers, investors, and education/research institutions to unlock investment, workforce, and innovation outcomes
- Shape and influence policy, infrastructure priorities, and funding decisions to advance regional economic objectives, including securing and managing strategic funding opportunities
- Proactively engage with existing businesses to address challenges, facilitate growth, and uncover export opportunities to boost competitiveness and identify expansion and export opportunities
- Lead investment readiness initiatives, including development of investment prospectuses and sector value propositions
About you
- Qualifications in business management, project management or relevant experience in investment attraction, economic development or business management roles
- Strong commercial acumen and proven stakeholder engagement and relationship management
- Well-developed written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, proven ability to work as part of a diverse team and build productive relationships
What we offer
- Permanent full time, 35 hours per week
- Salary from $135,898 to $145,606 per year (depending on qualifications, skills and experience) plus 12% superannuation
