Location: Parramatta or Orange (Hybrid working available). Minimum 2–3 days per week in the office, subject to change in line with Department of Customer Service workplace policies.
About the team
Government Shared Services (GSS) is a division of the Department of Customer Service that delivers essential shared services to more than 100 NSW Government agencies, supporting outcomes for the people of NSW.
Client & Commercial Solutions (C&CS) supports GSS by strengthening governance, managing client relationships, and providing assurance, commercial and financial oversight to enable effective and reliable shared service delivery.
About the role
Reporting to the Manager, Governance, you will support governance and assurance activities that underpin safe, reliable and transparent service delivery across GSS.
The role provides Secretariat and project support across governance, risk and resilience activities, including risk management, critical incident management and business continuity planning at the directorate, branch and division level. You will work closely with governance leads and stakeholders to ensure governance processes are well coordinated, documented and followed through.
Your day‑to‑day

Provide Secretariat support for governance forums, working groups and committees, including agenda preparation, minute‑taking, decision and action tracking, and coordination of papers.

Maintain governance documentation and registers, including risks, issues, decisions and actions, ensuring accuracy, consistency and timely updates.

Support project activities across governance, risk, critical incident management and business continuity initiatives.

Assist with the coordination and tracking of activities associated with change, incidents and assurance actions, escalating matters to senior staff as required.

Prepare reports, briefings and presentations to support governance reporting and stakeholder updates.

Collate, analyse and synthesise information to help identify emerging issues and support informed decision‑making.

Contribute to continuous improvement of governance processes, tools and templates across GSS.

Support broader governance, assurance and resilience activities as required.
About you

Demonstrated ability to analyse issues, connect information from multiple sources, and recommend practical improvements to processes and workflows.

Experience providing Secretariat and project support in a governance, risk, assurance or service delivery environment.

Strong organisational skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Confidence working with a range of stakeholders and contributing constructively in a team environment.

Ability to maintain registers, track actions and manage documentation with accuracy and follow through.

Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare meeting records and reports in plain English.

A proactive, adaptable and improvement focused approach, with an interest in developing governance capability in a complex organisation.

Salary Grade 7/8, with the base salary for this role starting at $113574 base plus superannuation
