Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health Information Manager to join our team. We are committed to "People caring for people," and this vital role ensures the integrity and security of our patient health information, contributing directly to exceptional patient care and operational excellence.
About the Role
The Health Information Manager provides leadership and strategic direction for all aspects of health information management within our hospital. This role ensures the accurate, timely, and secure management of patient health information, compliance with relevant legislation and standards, and the effective use of data for patient care, quality improvement, and business operations.
Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership and direction for all health information management functions.

Ensure the accurate, timely, and secure management of patient health information.

Maintain compliance with relevant Australian health information standards, privacy legislation, and accreditation requirements.

Drive the effective use of health data to enhance patient care, support quality improvement initiatives, and inform business operations.

Oversee the implementation and optimisation of patient administration systems and health information technologies.

Lead and develop the health information management team.
About You
We are seeking a professional who demonstrates a strong commitment to quality and patient care, with the following essential qualifications and experience:

Tertiary Qualification in Health Information Management or a related field.

Eligibility for membership with the Health Information Management Association of Australia.

Extensive experience (typically 5+ years) in a senior Health Information Management role within a hospital or healthcare setting.

Strong knowledge of Australian health information standards, privacy legislation, and accreditation requirements.

Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required.

Experience with Patient Administration Systems and health information technologies.
-
Well-developed negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Desirable Skills
-
Advanced skills in data collection, analytics, and interpretation.

Previous private health care experience.

Knowledge of health fund contracting systems and work experience in Public Private Partnership (PPP) healthcare settings.
