About the Role:The Chef/Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, high-quality meals for residents in an aged care environment. The successful candidate will ensure meals are prepared safely and according to residents’ dietary requirements, preferences, allergies, and special needs while maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness.. This is a casual role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare, cook, and present nutritious meals, snacks, and desserts for residents.
- Follow menus, recipes, portion sizes, and meal schedules provided by the facility.
- Prepare meals that meet residents’ individual dietary requirements, including texture-modified and special diets.
- Follow instructions relating to allergies, intolerances, cultural and religious dietary requirements.
- Ensure meals are served at the correct temperature and presented appropriately.
- Maintain accurate records relating to meal preparation, temperatures, food storage, and cleaning where required.
- Ensure food is stored, labelled, dated, and handled in accordance with food safety requirements.
- Monitor food quality and freshness and report any concerns to the relevant supervisor.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen and food preparation area.
- Clean and sanitise kitchen equipment, utensils, work surfaces, and food preparation areas.
- Minimise food wastage and use ingredients efficiently.
- Assist with stock control, including checking deliveries, rotating stock, and reporting low or expired supplies.
- Work collaboratively with kitchen staff, care staff, facility management, and other team members.
- Follow all aged care facility policies, procedures, infection control requirements, and workplace health and safety standards.
- Respond appropriately to residents’ needs and maintain a respectful and person-centred approach.
- Perform other reasonable kitchen duties as directed by the Facility Manager or Head Chef.
HEALTH AND SAFETY:
- Comply with all Work Health and Safety legislation requirements
- Follow infection control procedures and maintain a safe working environment
- Report any hazards or incidents immediately to management
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Previous experience working in an aged care facility, hospital, healthcare, or similar environment.
- Experience preparing texture-modified meals and meals for residents with swallowing or dietary requirements.
- Knowledge of aged care food service requirements.
- Relevant Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
- Current First Aid certificate
- Valid National Police Clearance
- Valid Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
