A Pivotal New Role in Rail Safety Leadership
Join Sydney Trains at a defining moment. We are establishing a new Director Assurance role to lead the Level 2 assurance function across operational, engineering and safety-critical activities.
Reporting at a senior leadership level, this newly created position will provide independent assurance and strategic insight to Branch leaders and the Sydney Trains Executive, helping ensure one of Australia's most complex transport networks continues to operate safely, reliably and effectively.
As Director Assurance, you will shape and lead a contemporary assurance framework that strengthens governance, risk management and operational performance across the organisation.
You will develop and deliver risk-based assurance programs, assess the effectiveness of critical controls and safety systems, and provide evidence-based insights that support informed executive decision-making.
Leading a specialist assurance team, you will drive a culture of continuous improvement while partnering closely with operational and technical leaders to identify emerging risks, evaluate performance and ensure accountability across key business functions.
Your ability to influence at executive level and translate complex issues into practical solutions will be critical to success.

About You
Extensive leadership experience in assurance, governance, risk, audit or safety functions within complex, high-risk environments
Demonstrated success operating assurance frameworks across transport, infrastructure, engineering, aviation, mining, oil and gas, utilities, consulting or similarly regulated sectors
Strong understanding of risk-based assurance methodologies, governance systems and critical control effectiveness
Proven ability to provide strategic advice and influence senior executives on complex operational and organisational issues
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capability, with experience identifying root causes and driving practical improvements
Resilient and collaborative leader with experience leading teams through complexity, change and competing priorities
Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent executive-level experience
