About the role
We are seeking a reliable, mature female Support Worker to provide ongoing community and in-home support for an adult female participant in the Newcastle area.
This is a consistent, long-term part-time role starting in approximately 2 weeks.
Hours
- 9 hours per week
- Monday: 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm (4 hours)
- Wednesday: 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm (5 hours)
Key responsibilities
- Support with community participation and meaningful activities
- Assistance with self-care, activities of daily living (ADLs), and light cleaning
- Provide calm, consistent, person-centred support in a home and community setting
- Maintain professional boundaries and follow support plans
About the participant
The participant lives independently, manages her own medications, and benefits from a supportive, motherly/mentor-like presence. She has a history of verbal behaviours and self-harm. Experience working with behavioural support needs and complex presentations is highly valued.
Who we’re looking for
- Female applicants only (genuine occupational requirement due to the nature of care required and participant preference)
- Mature woman, preferably over 45, who can bring a calm, nurturing approach
- Strong English communication skills
- Reliable, patient, and able to remain professional when faced with challenging behaviour
- Comfortable supporting someone with a history of self-harm and verbal aggression
Essential requirements
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Right to work in Australia
- Ability to work the fixed Monday and Wednesday afternoon shifts every week
- Based in or able to easily travel to the Newcastle area
Desirable
- Previous disability support, mental health, or behavioural support experience
- First Aid / CPR certificate
