Run the business of IT. Be the CIO's right hand. Own the decisions that keep everything moving.
About BildGroup
BildGroup is a privately owned Australian construction and infrastructure business operating nationally across civil, major projects, government, urban services, sports, survey and landscape. We are in a deliberate phase of growth - investing in our people, our systems and our capability - and our IT function is central to making that happen. This is a business where IT is taken seriously, funded properly, and expected to deliver.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer, the IT Manager is the operational engine of the IT function. This is a genuine 2IC role - you are the day-to-day decision-making point for the team, the owner of our relationships with our managed service and security partners, and the driver of cost discipline, service performance, and delivery cadence across the IT program of work.
You will also assume management of a large IT transformation - BildGroup's significant digital transformation program - as it transitions to internal ownership. This is not a passive handover; it is a genuine leadership responsibility with real scope, real stakeholders, and real timelines.
If you are an experienced IT manager who thrives in an operational leadership seat, someone who makes decisions, holds vendors accountable, and runs a tight program without needing a hand to hold, this role was written for you.
What You Will Own
The Managed Service Provider relationship: holding it to SLAs, best practice, and cost discipline without needing CIO involvement
The Security Operations Centre relationship: driving continual improvement, ensuring SLAs are met.
IT vendor and licence management, including an active licence rationalisation savings target
The IT program of work - sprint cadence, prioritisation, timelines and delivery risk
Management of the IT digital transformation program as it transitions in-house
An active role in working with the IT team: a first escalation point and the person who frees up the CIO to focus on strategy, partnerships, and innovation
ITIL-aligned continual service improvement across incident, problem, change and request management
What You Bring
You have managed an IT function or team before and you know what good looks like. You have held managed-service providers to account - not just monitored them - and you have a track record of getting cost savings out of vendor and licence arrangements. You are ITIL-grounded, operationally disciplined and commercially minded in how you approach IT spend.
Critically, you are a confident decision-maker. You do not need the CIO in the room to make a call. You can challenge vendors, consultants, and senior stakeholders and hold them to account, and you bring the follow-through to make sure things actually get done.
Experience running or owning a program of work - with stakeholder and risk management at its core - is essential. Familiarity with the construction or infrastructure sector, and exposure to digital transformation or ERP programs, will make you stand out.
A depth of AI experience. BildGroup is an AI forward business, and demonstrated capability with AI tools, models, vendors, and use cases is essential.
What is on Offer
