Role Title: Defence Projects Engineering Manager
Lead capability transition. Drive engineering outcomes. Shape Defence readiness.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Defence Projects Engineering Manager to lead the engineering and transition activities associated with introducing new Defence capabilities into service and sustainment.
This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of Defence acquisition, engineering, sustainment and project delivery. You will play a critical role in ensuring complex capabilities transition successfully from project delivery into operational service, working closely with Defence stakeholders, project teams, and industry partners.

About the Role:
You will provide engineering leadership and technical governance while working collaboratively across project management, engineering, logistics, commercial and corporate functions. Acting as a key liaison between Defence and industry stakeholders, you will drive the development of project documentation, technical assurance activities, engineering assessments, and transition planning to ensure capabilities are delivered safely, effectively, and sustainably.
This role requires a professional capable of balancing technical authority with stakeholder engagement, project delivery, and strategic planning.
Responsibilities:
- Lead engagement with Defence, military units, acquisition organisations, headquarters staff and industry partners.
- Coordinate, chair, and contribute to stakeholder meetings, ensuring actions and outcomes are effectively managed.
- Develop and review a broad range of project and engineering documentation.
- Lead or support technical investigations and engineering assessments associated with new and emerging capabilities.
- Participate in technical inspections, acceptance activities and test programs, reviewing outcomes and providing recommendations on capability acceptance.
- Exercise delegated engineering authority and provide technical guidance across project activities.
- Support engineering assurance and the design acceptance of significant engineering changes.
- Analyse and manage sustainment requirements to ensure capabilities are supportable throughout their operational life.

Skills and Experience:
- A degree qualification in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Membership with a recognised professional engineering body.
- Demonstrated experience in Defence projects, systems engineering, acquisition, sustainment, or capability transition environments.
- Experience supporting the Introduction Into Service of Defence capabilities.
- Strong understanding of Fundamental Inputs to Capability (FIC) and capability lifecycle management.
- Experience developing and reviewing engineering, project, risk, and technical assurance documentation.
- Knowledge of Defence engineering governance, certification, and technical authority frameworks.
- Experience conducting technical investigations, acceptance testing, and engineering assurance activities.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in complex environments.
