Primary objective
This position provides site supervision, operational leadership, advice and management support for schools located in rural
and remote locations in the NT, in areas of finance, procurement, administration and infrastructure. This position supports
the management and mentoring of staff within regional teams, including the Team Leader Shared Services.
Context statement
The School Business Services team in conjunction with our strategic partners provides high quality strategic and technical
advice to schools, corporate and other stakeholders to enable effective decision making to support school improvement.
The team is dispersed across the Northern Territory supporting all six regions and 152 schools.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide site supervision and mentorship to Business Managers and Finance Officers within the team to ensure the
effective management of schools’ finances, budgets and infrastructure.
2. Provide accurate and timely financial reports, information and advice on school financial matters to the remote school
principals, school bodies and external agencies.
3. Provide support and training to new and existing staff on policies and procedures, financial and administrative tasks.
4. Undertake the financial management for a portfolio of remote schools. This includes budget development/monitoring,
payroll, grants management and acquittals and ensuring that all statutory, audit and reporting deadlines are met.
5. Coordinate, facilitate and implement infrastructure and asset management within the schools including contract
management, repairs and maintenance programs and use of school facilities and equipment.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated financial, human resource, procurement and asset management skills including providing advice on
matters relating to budget development, payroll and financial reporting.
2. High level of computer literacy skills and experience with various office applications such as the Microsoft Office
package including Excel, Microsoft Teams and financial accounting software.
3. Demonstrated sound management skills with the ability to use coaching and mentoring techniques to build the capacity
of other staff and to motivate and lead a team to provide high quality, client focused services.
4. High level organisational skills and proven ability to manage priorities and deliver quality outcomes in a constantly
changing environment with minimal supervision.
5. Demonstrated effective communication skills with proven ability to work effectively with people of diverse cultures, and
professional backgrounds and to manage diverse stakeholder groups to achieve outcomes.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in accounting, commerce or business
2. Experience in the use of Ci Anywhere

2. This position will require travel to remote school communities by light aircraft and/or 4WD as required.
